Eye thought eye'd just post a little on what meditation is...
The goal of meditation is to reach the meditation state. This is a state of consciousness
midway between the waking state and the sleep state, hence the word MEDI in meditation. In this state we combine key elements of the waking and sleep state. In the sleep state the conscious mind slumbers while the subconscious mind is in the foreground. In the waking state it is the conscious mind that is in the foreground while the subconscious mind recedes to the background. In the meditation state we find the conscious mind unites with the subconscious mind. This is the most effective state of consiousness to partake in activities such as contemplation of vexing issues, problem solving, study, healing and stress relief and most importantly changing ones behaviour patterns.
This is understood when we study the roles of the conscious and subcoscious mind. The conscious mind also called the "will", is where we express our wanting to do something, but the will holds no power in itself. The power to do what the will desires comes from the subconscious mind. So U can Cee the dilema in not having the ability too unite the 2. Why? Because the subconscious is programmed either through doing something or acting a certain way over and again effectively creating what we call "habits", or by taking our desires to the subconscious through trance (the meditation state). Unfortunatly most people only ever slip into trance without them even aware that they are in such a state. We slip into trance several times a day though things such as "day dreaming" as well as hightened emotional states usually negative emotions which has the effect of imprinting onto our subconscious negative behavioural patterns.
